In the north-west or
Granada
region, switchover will take affect from 1st November 2009. Customers will have to have some form of digital technology to receive television pictures as the analog signal WILL be switched off.
 The first region in the
UK
to have their analogue signal turned off is
Whitehaven
,
Cumbria
. Whitehaven is in the Border region and had its analogue signal turned off in October 2007.
